Under 60 year old patient, Dr. Recommendations?
 

Looking for a regular doctor here in the Villages for myself a 58 year old. Any recommendations? Seem some doctors here only take 65 and older patients.

I usually just use Urgent Care but the doctor at one of these I have seen a few times said yesterday I needed a regular doctor to check the oil, brakes, fluids and the like on at least a yearly basis rather than me going in when something starts leaking.

Thought I would try to get some advice from the good people here on Talk of the Villages.

I give platelets usually every two weeks and they give a mini-physical which helps. Am taking a little break from platelet donating though to lower the iron by a blood donation and also just to relax. I give blood in a few weeks with the Parrot Heads in their blood drive of January 22, 2018. They will be at the Fire Station 44. The Villages Parrot Head Club Website

Have you tried The Villages Health? We know some under 65 people who go there.

We're over 65 and go there and find their service to be about the best we've ever had.

We think a lot of our doc' but I think his dance card is full.

For me, the medical coverage a person has is the basis for starting the search.

Then sort by distance, then look at reviews.

There is a lot of information on line.

A big factor, in a big city anyway, is what and how many hospitals the doctor has admission privilages.

I am 59 and am using the Village Health system in Brownwood by the Publix off of Powell. They have specialists and Primary Care all under one roof. They also have labs and xray. I was going to Urgent care also since I do not need a doctor alot.

I think I have seen two doctors since 2000. One was twice at Urgent Care here in the Villages. Before that, it has often been the physicals needed for Post Office job applications or other similar things which trigger me going to a doctor.

I know people quite satisfied with Creekside's The Villages Health.

Tal, if there is a way for you to get into The Villages Health system for your care I believe it would work well for you. It gives you so many options. Good Luck.

Allegiances advice is on the money, it really is dependant on your coverage.

My insurance this year is pretty good.

No serious problems just a little hypertension and the enlarged prostate. Doc gave me prescription for pills yesterday for both. But he said I need more monitoring. Thus the need to find a regular doctor.

My blood pressure was great but now they changed the guidelines so now it is deemed elevated and the only other time that my blood pressure really elevates is when I read the posts on a certain TOTV'S forum. Ho-Ho-Ho.

The Villages health is good but as soon as you turn 65 and don't accept their medicare advantage program they will not keep you.

IMO There views on that will probably change by the time TAL turns 65, the Freebie money for UHC about all used up and they didn't get the quotes % that they kicked out that they thought they would change the health care coverage to UHC. IMO basically their loosing the A$$ and something going to have to change.

I’m not on Medicare and I use The Villages Health. I find the doctors to be excellent and you can usually get an appt when you need it
