Has anyone had experiences with Dr. Avecilla next to Mulberry Rec. center?
Mover here recently and need a good doctor.

I have no experience with the doctor, but if you type in the following into the Google search bar I'm sure you get a start on getting some basic information:

We're looking for doctors as well and our Insurance carrier has a network (in our case, Beech Street) with an on-line listing of the doctors in their plan. That narrowed the field significantly for us.

I just checked and Dr. Avecilla is on the Beech Street Corporation list. You can't beat the recommendation that jazzy48 gives in the next post!

Dr. Avecilla is our primary care physician and has been for over three years. We couldn't be more pleased with him. He is very thorough and won't hesitate to refer you to a specialist if he feels you need one. We've always been very pleased with his referrals as well. His office is run effeciently, probably because his wife is the office manager. Not once have we been sick and needed to see him that we didn't get in right away.

One major point with Dr. Avecilla is that you see him, not a physician's assistant. If you're there with a medical issue, you will see Dr. Avecilla. Another plus is that, although he is from the Phillipines, he has substantial training in the US and his English is perfect.

My husband was recently in the hospital with several doctors involved in his care. Every day, Dr. Avecilla came in and went over all that had happened, test results, etc. It was comforting to have him there to pull everything together for us.

We tried three other internists before settling on him, and we're happy we found him. We don't plan on going anywhere else.

I believe he passses away a while ago.

My husband and I have been going to the Mulberry Family Physician. We see Dr. Cruz who is excellent. Very thorough and doesn't push a lot of tests and medicines. I think anyone would like him. Very good diagnostician.

Dr. Avecilla did pass away. I now see Dr Page Smith at Lakeview Medical - he is in with Dr Khai Chang and I like him very much.

I see Dr. Abrantes. She is a lovely young Phillipino doctor. Perhaps she took over Dr. Avecilla's office as I was told that the doctor that had that location previously had passed away.
I was new to the area but have been here about 1 1/2 yrs. I like her VERY much and she is very thorough. She take time to listen. I would recommend her without hesitation. I have had some medical issues that I wasn't even aware of until she ran certain blood test that I had never been given before. Her phone # is 352-259-7900.

Gee, thanks everyone for the information! We are moving to Forsyth Villas very soon, which is a very short distance from these doctors, and I'll call tomorrow to see if they will accept us as new patients. One more thing to check off a looong list of moving issues. Again, many thanks.

Dr. Martinez old office seem to be in a lot of confusion since the new Dr's took over. I am looking for a new PCP

Does anyone know where Dr. Martinez-Cruz is working now? We had been with him for over 3 years and he was excellent. Now that he no longer works at Mulberry Family Physician, we would like to find where he is hopefully working now.
