Cremation Services

CREMATION: I am considering cremation when I pass out of this world. Any suggestions on which of the companies offers these services in the area and your experience in dealing with them?

I must get at least one post card for a free meal every week if I want to listen to their creamation sales pitch. Just wait, you'll be getting yours. It should cost about $800. Investment companies, smoke detectors, lightning rods, funerals, landscapers, water purification, creamation services, etc. If a week doesn't go by without 2 or 3 of these, something is wrong. You could eat out for free all the time.

My neighbors goes to a lot of these. He now has lightning rods to the tune of $2000, four smoke detectors that cost $1800, and a water purifier system that uses salt that cost $3100. He also invested $200K with a company and he and his wife now get a $1,000 a month for the rest of their life.

My wife passed away 4 months ago and was cremated. I used Beyers, they were wonderful, professional and compassionate, even called me to see how I was doing.

GE
So sorry to hear of your wife's passing. Missed your postings and happy to see you back.

Yes, I get all of those free dinner invitations and I know to pay for these dinners there must be a lot of profit in the business. I just want to zero in on a service that is professional, compassionate and reasonable. Not interested in a fly by night company.

The advantage of The National Cremation Society that we liked was they cover you wherever you die at no extra charge. They have you cremated at their facilities and ship you wherever you want while the services can be wherever you want, your church, National Cemetery etc. One price, no extra charges. They too will explain it over a free lunch.

When my father died in Hilton Head, SC, the funeral director (he was the only one in HH) told us that nearly all the decedents (cremated or not) were shipped back home.

I set up a prepaid cremation plan with Baldwin Brothers online. Picked my desired options and never had to speak to anyone or listen to a sales pitch. It was $795. They sent me a certificate and I gave it to my executor.

It was great for me, as someone who doesn't believe in expensive funerals (and only has two close relatives), but of course others may want a more personal experience and you can always go meet with them in person.
