Walmart closing 63 Sam’s Clubs nationwide

Interesting. Looks like the one here will stay open. So far.

One near my house in NC is closing, they have said all the employees will be offered jobs at other Sam's Club and WalMarts in the area

The local Sam's Club will survive only as long as no Costco opens in the area.

When the day comes and Costco arrives . . . poof!

Good point, Mrs. R.

The one closing in my hometown is a poorly performing store in a not so nice neighborhood. No Costco within 20 miles of it.

Probably all the law suits over fighting over the rotisserie chickens!

In some areas they are abandoning the market completely.
Two stores scheduled to close in Rochester, NY.
Then the next closest store would be Buffalo!!!

I think they are their own worst enemy. The store here for example has far too many periods where it is poorly stocked and or out of standard carry merchandise.

Their current rolling make over has been and continues to be a long dragged out disaster. Nobody knows where anything is....and stocking is minimal during this transition.
Going into the cooler to select fresh fruits and vegetables is a very poor idea....it is not conducive to browsing or shopping.
There must be a reason why every other super market on the planet does not do this.

The new, evolving layout does not lend to good flow of traffic in the store.....

Just to name a few issues. Hence the opportunity is perfect for any comparable competitor to come in and do well.

Our sams and Costco are 1/4 mike from each other and both are packed any day. We have a business membership at both so we can beat the crowds with most of our items sitting on a cart ready to go, and early entry is a bonus

We had memberships to both Sam's and Costco when we lived in Cincinnati. They were side by side and both packed.

It is the old horse beating about how much Costco pays their help. Tired of it.

If you don't like it, don't go. The one on 441 stays plenty crowded and is in no danger of closing. Many do see the value, even for a household of 1 or 2.
