New Dog Park, Air Gun Range, and Archery Range for Fenney Area

4 Attachment(s)
While doing some flyovers this pass weekend and editing the video I noticed some unusual items in the Village of Desoto footage. After doing some digging in the county recorders it turns out that there will be an Air Gun range at the Sugar Cane NRC at the Village of Desoto entry and just down the road will be a dog park and archery range. All are permitted and under construction so these are real.

Definitely new and welcome editions to the recreational offerings in the south end of The Villages.

Pictures are attached.

Thanks for sharing the info. The dog parks that exist are well maintained and the dog owners i’ve met are responsible. Having another in the Fenney area is good news!

In the number 3 and 4 images, which direction is North? Thanks

The parking area is on the north side. The two facilities are almost adjacent to each other on Fenney Way as soon as you cross CR505 into the Village of Desoto. The attached picture shows both areas relative to the Put & Play course. For scale the archery range is 400' x 140' according to the plans. The dog park is about 45,000 SqFt, an NFL football filed is 48,000 SqFt (no including end zones)

With all the development down there that won't be enough. IMO if Villages allows 2 or more pets, then each district should have their own dog park. So, imo there about 8 behind.

How loud are air guns? Any others in TV? Reasonable hours?

Nothing like firearms in the way of loud.
Two other existing ranges in TV. One at Rio Grande, and the other is at Soaring Eagle.
The Rec Dept, in conjunction with the villages air gun club, does introductory shoots on the mornings of Tuesday up at Rio? And Wednesday down at SE? They provide equipment and targets, just show up and have fun.

We each and we all can't have everything we want. We each and we all have so many nice things living here at what is, in my opinion, a reasonable price.

If we keep adding to the list of wants, well then there will be a bill.

The developer is not our mother.

I imagine that good things will continue to be added, just as they have been in the past.

When folks state there should be more of one thing or another in TV, are they prepared to back the need by supporting a pay for use facility?
By contributing to the purchase/development/construction costs? Are they ready to pay an increase in amenity fees to get more of what we already have?

Have they taken into account how many hours per day the existing facilities sit empty?

Just good, initial business inquiries?

They're called air guns because the projectile is propelled by air. No gun powder or explosion, they are quieter than a real gun with a silencer. The air is compressed either with a CO2 cartridge, that's the most common, or by pumping a part of the rifle. The more expensive rifles the air is refilled from a portable tank. Most air rifles are not repeater, the ranges operate at 10 meters, that's 33 feet. You normally can't hear an air rifle if you'e more than 20 or 30 feet away. The Villages range do not allow 22 caliber, only the .177 caliber, which is the smallest. The club's current range is at the Rio Grande Mail Stop in Spanish Springs area and the newer range is at the Soaring Eagle complex at Rohan. You can read all about TV Air Gun Club at this link.

the air guns make less noise than a pickle ball hit!

...............and a lot less noise than the ankle snappers in the poo park.

:agree:People use postal stations (and many threads have been written chastising these dog walkers)
because there is a lack of dog parks in TV.
We use a private dog park and pay for that privilege, so I don't have a dog in this fight, so to speak, :doggie::doggie:
For example, there is only one dog park for the thousands of dogs between CR 466 and CR 466A.
And that dog park is in back of the Bonita Fire Station, on a hill.:ohdear:

On the west side of 441, after Mulberry, the Bonita Park is the only one until Moyer Loop. It's on a hillside under trees, so it cannot dry out in rainy season and stuck behind a fire station.
