Urgent Care
 

This has been a tough 2018 for me so far. I have had an upper respiratory infection for going on 15 days. Am in the process of the 3 antibiotic shot cycle at the 441 urgent care in Colony. I would have went to my primary care Dr. but wouldn't you know I'd get sicker on a Friday night. Yesterday I waited over 2 hours for my shot and there were 5 rooms full of people and 5 ahead of me in the waiting room. Went this morning at 10:00 and there were 16 patients ahead of me and 5 full rooms waiting. I called my family Dr. and they will have the nurse at his office complete the shot today. Thank goodness. If you have to go to the urgent care be sure to take a mask with you. The room is warm and tons of people coughing and ill. It's an easy place to catch an even worse infection. Of course the best scenario is to go to your family doctor if you happen to get sick during the week.

Thanks Abby. I'd forgotten that I had written already about this. It's just been a long time getting well. I just don't want everyone going to the urgent care and catching this thing.

No worries - it's always good to know who still needs prayers. :smiley: Also, a good reminder about urgent care facilities and/or doctor's offices in general this time of year. I know even when I make my routine physical or any routine appt with a doctor, I consider the time of year. Your post was a good precautionary reminder.

We dubbed this upper respiratory infection "the Village Crud". It can go on for 3-4 weeks or even longer. Many of us at our age have a weakened immune system and are easy preys for it. Your idea of a face mask is a good one and visit your doctor asap or a good urgent care. The longer you delay, the harder it hits you (IMHO).

It's hitting up north as well. Same type of stuff lasting 4 weeks or more. Everyone where I work eventually got it. Seems to be mostly viral. The only one who needed antibiotics to combat it was the person who got resulting pneumonia from it. The rest of us persevered because symptoms did not warrant antibiotics. It is a persistant, long lasting bug. Lots of rest and fluids to break up the mucous seems to be a good prescription for it.

I should add though, if you do have underlying conditions, you definitely should see a doctor. If it continues to get worse or you have a fever, I would get it checked out ASAP as the previous poster stated.
