Veterinarians around the villages
Veterinarians around the villages
I would love to hear peoples advice on local veterinarians that they have trust in. My veterinarian has moved out of the area. Any input would be welcomed. |

We use Buffalo Ridge and are satisfied for the "basics" i.e. annual check ups/immunization/earache/etc.
For anything major or of significant consequence we use UF Pet Hospital in Gainesville. After being there the first time my comment was....if I ever need significant care of any type...I am going there. The facility is gorgeous. 20 exam rooms...delightful waiting area (very hotel lobby like)....snack bar. Competent multiple disciplined vets and students. Reasonable pricing. This is not intended as a negative remark....their staff and capability has no equal any where in TV or near by!! Our dog has a heart mur mur and we go there every 6 months. |
We use Dr Drumm, he has a great touch for not stressing our dog as he approaching initially.
The staff is the same for several years. Fees were lower than most. Doesn't push services Nice place very caring Across from Colony . |
Mulberry Grove Animal Hospital. Dr Vance is whom we use but all three female Vets are excellent. Also more kudos for the UF (University of Florida) Animal Hospital in Gainesville. They have an Emergency Clinic in Ocala whic is only nopen M-Th 5:30 pm to 7:30 am and 24 hrs Fri - Sun. Our cat stopped eating after vomiting 2 days in a row. First to UF Ocala Clinic then transferred to UF Gainesville. Three months of home tube feeding after being diagnosed with IBS (Irratable Bowel Syndrome) after biopsy surgery. Long story short our “Boots” is now back to normal thanks to our initial care at Mulberry Grove, then their partnered referral to UF in Gainsville. Dr Cook at UF has been with us through the entire process and is still helping us regulate Boots medication. Our Pets are part of our family and we are very happy these exceptional services were and continue to be available.

My vet is Dr. Timothy Porter at Animal Clinic of Wildwood. not a fancy office but a great vet who will not gouge you. recommendations come when people have had a good outcome. I, unfortunately, have not had good experiences with Buffalo Ridge.

Agree about University of Florida in Gainesville. Wonderful place. Specialists, nice facility, treat you so nice, they take good care of your pet when they are there.

I'm going to get a lot of backlash about this, but be cautious with UF. They love research and like to do a lot of testing. I have personal experience of what all else they wanted to put our golden through to "maybe" come up with a diagnosis (after $1000 of tests already done) when he seemed to have some kind of muscle wasting problem and was losing weight. Our vet at Park Heights on 441, Candice Manganaro, did extensive research on the issue and came up with four things it could be. We could test for two, not treat for one without a muscle biopsy done by UF that would only diagnose if they hit the right spot of the right muscle. There was a fourth option that could be treated with a month of serious antibiotic.
One of the two tests was negative, we refused the muscle biopsy at UF because of the chancy outcome ($2500, no guarantee of a diagnosis), and Dr. M said the antibiotic treatment wouldn't cause any harm if that condition wasn't the cause. We went with that. We have a happy, healthy 10-yr-old dog who has regained all his weight and muscle mass. We have been with Dr. Manganaro for six years, with our guy and two fosters. She's the best in my book. |
