Nothing will ever be as it was at "home".

Philly Phinest!

Might as well ask for the Phillies and Eagles to play on the polo fields LOL When I visit the folks Publix usually does a pretty fair mock up with Boars Head meats. NOT the same but it'll do... At least they do it in Vero Beach...

If you are ever in the vicinity of The Paddock Mall in Ocala you might try "Charley's". It is on the left just as you enter the food court.
I have tried every conceivable location in Florida for years to find a Philly Cheese steak. "Charley's" is as close as it gets so far.
I haven't found a decent hoagie, sub, hero, grinder or what ever. The closest is "Franklin Street Grinder" in Hartford, Ct. Those ladies knew how to custom make a grinder. Then topping it off with a canolli(sp?) from the bakery next door made a perfect meal.
I regress. That was 22 years ago. It is probably history now.

I have tried hoagies at several places and I find that the Publix in Mulberry makes a pretty good one. I don't care if it is the Publix meat or the Boar heads meat since I put provolone, onions, lettuce, tomato, Jalapeņo peppers, banana peppers, oregano, salt and pepper and oil and vinegar on it. After that who cares what the meat is and it is a dollar less for Publix meat.

It is like putting Stoli's in a Bloody Mary. Waste of good booze.

AS a young person I operated three sandwich shops in the Philly area. The best cheese steak that I have found in this area is a Sweat Cream in the shopping center by Belk's. They have the grill on to about 6 P.M. They are good, and don't come with green peppers.:pepper2:

Ya can't have it all!!

Jersey Mikes has very good hoagies; however, I'm not sure if they're going open up anytime soon. There was a notice posted on their door by Lake County about additional fees they had to pay for a delay in opening!!! It's located across from Fusion Restaurant (closed recently) and next to Moes. I saw it on my way to Target. We really enjoyed their hoagies in the Pittsburgh area (especially during football games)!! I really hope they open up.

. . . . But, on the other hand, 'home', at least for most of us, didn't have the beautiful Florida sunshine and sunsets, music on the town squares, the cute little gekkos, golf cart paths to use as roads, beaches only a short drive away, and so on . . . . ! We are blessed to be here.

Were coming next month for a visit, well bring our own hoagies just to be sure. LOL

I like the Phillies at Big City, Spanish Springs, and they use amorosa rolls, freshly baked....real meat, not steak ums, and real provolone cheese. You can add green peppers if you like. They are 6.50 for a nine inch sandwich, and its loaded with steak. Best Value in town

It's in the bread, isn't it!!!

I read a thread awhile ago that recommended Sweet Cream for cheese steaks. I tried one last Saturday. I ordered it with. The onions were not cooked enough and the "steak" was so tough I didn't even finish it. Will not return.

the best cheese steaks are now at chi's grill & ice cream next to Hallmark on 441. If you want they'll make it with grilled chicken which is great also. the bread is wonderful.
