Wow, sounds great. Do you have to sit on top of of each other. I bet the atmosphere is romantic. You get what you pay for.

Make sure you park your car out of harms way-its a eat and dash before sunset

You guys are something else. It's the American Legion.. You know, a service organization? They're not advertising a 5-Star experience. It's more of a social event.
|
NO!!!!! U get a lot more than what u pay for. Try it and see that the Legion puts out a very nice, quality spread
|
I have not been there for the Italian Dinner, but have been to the Legion many times for a their Wednesday lunch. Very good. This is not your “Fine Dining”, but the legion does good work for veterans. Go have a good dinner and help you fellow vets!

You’ve been forewarned, this is The Villages (central-central florida) yet, based upon my experience you’d think it was West Palm or Sanibel. I’m not alone in this thinking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Can American Legion members bring guest?

Yes. Up to three guests

It's the American Legion, but they exclude some veterans, and allow people with no service to became members if their parents were veterans. I guess 3 years in the Marine Corps is not good enough, so forgive me if I am not a fan of the American Legion. I know many of your members who were in during conflicts/wars, but never left the US. kudos to those who saw combat. Sorry...just venting. Semper Fi!

We drove by there last night. There must have been 10,000 members and friends there. Parking lot completely filled, cars parked both sides Rolling Acres for a couple blocks. How do they put all those people inside?

Those of which you speak, who never served, are not full members. They can only belong to the Sons of the American Legion or SAL for short. As a child I belonged to the SAL, IMHO having adults in the SAL is absurd, it was akin to the Boy Scouts. I’m a full member of the AL, have been since 1972. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I never looked in to the VFW, I just thought all veterans could join. I just went to their website and it said you must meet the requirements below. I guess WWII and Korean War are a given, but the era that most of us in TV find ourselves in, would mean you have to have served in Vietnam or Korea or your out of luck. I never knew that, I do have 13 months in Korea from 70 to 71, so I'll keep that in mind.
Eligibility There are three qualifiers for membership in the VFW, as set out in our By-Laws. An individual must meet all three in order to become a member. They are as follows: 1: Citizenship – must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. National. 2: Honorable Service – must have served in the Armed Forces of the United States and either received a discharge of Honorable or General (Under Honorable Conditions) or be currently serving. 3: Service in a war, campaign, or expedition on foreign soil or in hostile waters*. This can be proven by any of the following: - An authorized campaign medal (see a full list of qualifying medals and badges) - Receipt of Hostile Fire Pay or Imminent Danger Pay (verified by a military pay statement) - Service in Korea for 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days |
