Rust Spots on Driveway

Need recommendations for removing multiple small rust stains that have been appearing on my driveway. It's not well water!

It is probably from the iron in your fertilizer.

Could be battery acid if you have an electric golf cart. If so, there is little that you can do to get rid of it as the chemical nature of the material making up your driveway will have been altered.

Try some vinegar and a scrub brush.. If that doesn't work you can use muriatic acid..

Try SNO-CAP, ACE hardware, a little goes a long way. If you want just a little send me a PM.

This is a well kept secret. Sno Cap is an outstanding product for those stucco homes that have the brown stain along the ground line. These are those stains from liquid fertilizer spray.

If hubby doesn't blow off the excess fertilier when he fertilizes, we also get what looks just like rust stains.....

Hire somebody to pressure wash your driveway

Fertilizer left behind will oxidize almost instantly when it gets wet. I was able to get them to bleach out with fresh lemon juice on a sunny day. Repeat several times. My stained area wasn’t too large.

Pressure washing won’t remove it. Iron out (powder or spray) does the job. You can buy it at Home Depot, Lowe’s, Ace or Amazon. I prefer the powder as you can increase the strength. It’s easy to use.

Based on comments I think I was the cause of the rust spots......That being said i will try both the Muratic acid and also the Iron Out when I find out who sells it.

Snow Cap caused bleached out spots on drive. Will have to give time to see if it fads.

One larger spot not caused by me and of unknown origin may be a more difficult problem.:BigApplause:
