Comcast who has 1000mbps
 

Who has the current rate plan from Comcast. I am thinking about getting rid of my Dish service and going entire with Comcast and their 18$ package for locals and networks. But even with the 100mbps plan I currently have I see buffering when streaming in the evening hours.

So I guess I am wondering who has it and how is it working out for you especially streaming.

I have comcast and no complaints. Just checked and it is 119.5 mb for download and 12.0 for up load.

I have the Comcast premium bundle, which includes tv, internet, and phone. The internet speed is supposed to be 150 mbps and my tv is supposed to have over 260 channels, including all of the popular premium channels like hbo and showtime. I have 2 tvs and dvr service. My bill is about $220 per month. I don't know how the streaming works, but I would think that buffering would be automatic regardless of your internet speed.

We also use Comcast and pay for 75 mbps but they’ve recently upgraded us to 120 mbps. I run speed tests twice a day. In the BR 10’ from the router In the LR K it drops off to 62 mbps. It’s been pretty consistent throughout the day. We use a smart tv, a fire stick, and several iPads and have not seen any video buffering. Of course the choke point might also be the Netflix/Amazon servers. The upload speed seems to be limited to 12 mbps. We also suspect that metal studs in our interior walls may also limit the WiFi speed.

thanks for your answers, but I am looking for someone who has the 1000-2000 mbps plan. I already have Comcast and get 110mpbs.

Unless you are running some sort of crypto currency mining server beating up your throughput , changing from 100 megs to 1gig internet service won't make your Netflix work any better. Don't waste your money. 100+ megs service is many many times more than enough even for 4k streaming with multiple other devices running concurrently on your network.

I agree, I have 40MBS service from CenturyLink, a 4k TV and use Netflix, Amazon Prime etc and experience no buffering when streaming the ever increasing 4k content from these sources.

I have Direct TV Ultimate plan, that plus CenturyLink costs about $140 per month. I don't advise getting an "all in one" type service from Comcast or anybody, if it goes out you have nothing. If my DirectTV goes out (very infrequent) I can still stream lots of content thru CenturyLink.

Where can I get one of those crypto currency mining servers? Sounds cool. But, I thought that Comcast has the fastest internet service available in The Villages. How would you get a faster service if you wanted it.

CenturyLink has 1000 megabits per second download if you have fiber to the house. However, I can't imagine how you could take advantage of it. 4K streaming from Netflix needs about 20 megabits per second download. Webpages may load a fraction of a second faster.

Yes, there is buffering going on under the covers. I suspect the OP is referring to an interruption in the video, which is generally not typical unless there is some issue. Netflix negotiates the resolution it streams so there shouldn't be any interruptions (i.e. if it realizes that it cannot obtain enough bandwidth to stream 1080p without interruptions it will degrade the resolution to something lower to prevent interruptions, say 720p).
