electric lines

To anyone putting in a pool or any other work that requires moving your electric service line. I called SECO and they told me it would cost me 1600 dollars to move the line. Now I'm going to tear my backyard apart to put in a pool and they were worried that they would tear it up .Well I called the engineering super and now the cost has dropped to 259.00. What I am saying is was someone selling me a bill of goods or what . Don't trust the first thing these utility companies say. After all isn"t SECO a non profit company.

$1,600 sounds cheap to me - how can they do anything with eletric lines for $259?

Check with warranty

Our neighbors decided to put a pool in and found out that electric, cable and phone lines had not been run correctly on their property. Since the house was still under warranty they paid nothing when all were relocated prior to pool installation.

There really is no correct about where they run your electric sevice line as long as it isn't under the house or some thing. There is no national state or local code as to where the service line is run. Good possiblity that your friends had it put in there contract when they bought that they were putting in a pool then The Villages will pay. The Villages used to pay for the move up until 4 to 5 months ago. I had gone to warranty and basiclly said to bad. All I am saying don't beleive the first answer you get, question it .

Our neighbors were told by TV warranty that utilities running from cable & electric boxes are required to run along property lines. Their utilities did not and TV paid to have them rerouted. I remember talking to one of the guys fixing the problem and he told me that some of the contractors will take shortcuts around the TV requirement and hope they do not get caught.
