Anyone try Century Link

I'm thinking of switching from Comcast to Century Link. They use Dish for the tv but savings are close to $100.
Do you have any experience or input? Thanks, Herb

I've had Embarq/Century link for my DSL internet,TV and phone service for 18 months and the service has been fine. Occasionally the TV loses signal during heavy rain for a short time.

century link ????

I probably should not comment on this because I'm not sure whereof I speak , however its never stopped me before so he goes.......
It is my understanding that century link is a middle man for the DISH NETWORK and that you can go to directly to dish for less money ...
Now I don't use either one of them so I'm on shaky ground here..I'm sure someone with more knowledge on the subject will jump in and straighten us out .....
However, be selective of the INFO you listen too as many folks here claim superior knowledge when they don't have a clew .....give them a couple of days to resound as right now they are probably on the political blog site,,,

fumar ........:22yikes:

We have Century Link. Formerly Embarq. It is OK. Initially I was going to Comcast, but I wasn't impressed with the service and the run around.I was unimpressed with the service at the tiny office on 441. Plus they didn't offer VOIP phone service. Comcast also tends to have price increases quite often.
The weakest part with Century Link is the slow internet speed compared to other internet providers such as Comcast. Century Link uses DSL. Dish Network has quite a few channels that are infomercials or QVC-like. The other caveat to some is mantaining a LAN line. Some would prefer to just use a cell phone. You must have a LAN line with Century Link.Customer support has been good.
Phone without long distance $25, DSL $30, Dish $40 depending on the package.
I get around the long distance by using Google Voice, but that is another topic thread.

I'm using Century link without a lan line. All you need is a phone jack so they can put their equipment in line with your phone jacks.I only have it for internet and so far so good.29.99 for 1.5 mbps but if you want to double your speed to 3.0 mbps it will only cost you $5 more a month. As far as TV goes I've had Direct Tv for years and love it!! Hopefully I've been of some help...Mark

Thank you all for sharing and Happy Thanksgiving to all. Herb

For now it seems like I'm comparing apples to oranges, wish me luck getting it figured out.
