Stream at Sumter
Why is the stream at Sumter Landing across from Sonny's so often not flowing?
|
I don't know. I never noticed that stream but I will bike there tomorrow and look for it. It has to be man made doesn't it? Lake Sumter is man made.

Because it's plugged with creosote. :D
(Inside joke for those that have taken the boat tour and heard about the fake creosote plant explosion.) |

Someone posted a really old map and it showed a lake named Cherry Lake where Sumter is now. |

Or maybe it does work...a couple of times a night? :D |
This may be related to the need to lower the water level at the Morse bridge to fix the land around the footings.

Part of the intercoastal cannal locks system, for Lake Sumter Lines based in Lake Sumter landing..Lake Sumter Lines will sell passengers round trip, one way tickets to the Port of Tampa, and points in between...Be sure to check in, with their seasonal scheduling...Arrival and departing times are subject to change, without prior notice..

yes, Lake Sumter is man made. The bridge was built on dry land. There may have been a body of water there at some point, but it was a peat mine up to the time the villages started building in that area. The water is stormwater runoff, mostly, and the stream is created with pumps.
