What is wrong with Lydia Ko?

TONY'S LPGA REPORT

I think nothing really. She's a genius at what she does and they tend to tinker. She's in that stage. As a frequent walking scorekeeper for professional events, I've had Lydia in my group(s) and she seems totally normal and is absolutely a charmer. I hope she wins again soon but if not, still proud of her as a rep for women's golf.

Update: Lydia missed the cut this past weekend at the Founders Cup.

Pros tend to put a whole string of wins together, then for some reason get the urge to change their swing.
Never figured why you change a winning formula.
If it aint broke, don't fix it!
I am not including myself in this phenomenon, as I have never strung wins together, and I change my swing after, and during every game!

The swing change is obviously not working. Sometimes it's best to leave quirky swings alone.

The other thing is that someone like Lydia Ko or Jordan Speith who rely so much on their putting and short game get into trouble when they lose the feel for that part of the game.

It's especially difficult on the LPGA tour where the difference in driver distance is so great. Lydia and a few others like So Yeon Ryu are going to have trouble competing consistently from 50-60 yards behind the tours longer hitters.

It's amazing how Inbee park has been able to win so consistently, but we're even seeing her not be able to keep up like she once did.

Look at the money list. Other than Inbee the top ten are all very long hitters. When you're hitting a 3 hybrid into a green that many other girls are hitting wedge into it's a lot to make up regardless of how good of a putter you are.

Haven't really followed her but has she maybe changed swing or other coaches, caddy, or agent?

How golfing prodigy Lydia Ko lost her way

From this article:

Quote:

Almost none of her plans, 10 years from now, involve the game of golf.
Quote:

She wants to retire at 30.
Quote:

"I started playing golf when I was 5," Ko says. "I think 25 years in the game is a good round number."
I'm guessing that golf is not that important to her. She also talks about being a psychologist at age 30.
