DIRECT TV -new box
 

New box from Direct TV has arrived - need help setting it up.
Also, den TV goes on by itself when I'm not anywhere near
and iit has been turned off.

This happens quite often! ???????

Interesting. Any time DirecTV has replaced or upgraded any of my boxes, they always insist on sending it with a technician to install it. I am fairly capable of doing it on my own but they have always refused to just ship me the box and let me do it on my own. It's normally quite straightforward - just attach the cable to the box input and then hook the box to the TV using your method/cable of choice and turn it on and wait for it to "boot". If it doesn't work at that point, you can get them on the phone and they will walk you through troubleshooting.

Check your settings on the DEN TV and see if there are options to turn on the TV remotely, maybe these were accidentally enabled, for example some of these new home control devices can turn on and off other devices. Maybe you have interference between these types of devices.
