is anyone else having TOTV connectivity issues?

It's working again with Chrome. Don't know why.
Any opinions about Ultrasurf? That didn't fix it but it does look like a nice free way to have more security.

I was having an issue for several weeks and when I did get on TOTV they said they weren't having an issue BUT CenturyLink was. Called C.L. and the automated response was they weren't getting any reports of issues. TOTV said to clean out my "cookies and cache" but I didn't have ANY issues there. Had someone look at my device and after A LOT of time spent on it....he found it indeed was a C.L. issue. I'm not sure how he fixed it so I can get into it...but now I'm fine.

Thank-you
I use century link. The next time I have this problem I'll go to Eisenhower and see if I can get to TOTV.

I have CL and started having trouble logging on 3 or 4 weeks ago. Tonight I got the “server not found” and an hour later got on. Has happened a number of times. Apple Ipad

Every time I get a PM I get kicked out from posting until admin fixes it. This is the third time.

We too have century link. We too have had issues connecting with TALK OF THE VILLAGES. You have according to your post APPLE we have PC.

As to Century Link. Cause? Effect? WILL THE REAL PROBLEM PLEASE STAND UP. I use GOOGLE for my searches. I have noticed that on e-mails I am regularly disconnected. The invite from microsoft sometimes is in FRENCH-HUH?

Me too. I also have Centurylink it was out for several days at the end of March, but came back all by itself.

I wonder if CL has a safeguard for "robots". I do click "new posts' many times a day and sometimes I double click it by mistake.

Our computer guy went through some sort of "back door" to enable us to get TOTV again. Said it was easier than being on the phone with a C.L. tech. He 'sort of' explained why C.L. has an issue. Perhaps they aren't aware of it.

we have no computer, no TV and no phone. Secret, we do have cell which we pay for and it is not century link.

If, you need to raise your blood pressure call their service number, IF, YOUR PHONE IS WORKING.

i CAN'T HELP IT. Truth if you check, they have hired a new manager. NOT FOOLING-he started APRIL FIRST-APRIL FOOLS DAY.

Our two outages were caused by a cut wire. The wire was cut by the people who put in the pool next door. SADLY amusing. I told them what the problem was. FOUR DAYS LATER, they sent out a repair guy. YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS UP.
The guy they sent only does from the house to the green box. At a cost of ????? to the company he declared the wire was cut. Now they send out another guy-yup he confirmed the wire was cut. Then they sent the crew to replace the wire. OF COURSE they did not remove the now not connected wire. Oh, actually stated by one of the too many guys sent here, the wire we HAVE/HAD black in color was never supposed to be buried.

From what I've learned or think I know, each of those green junction boxes is connected to the one before it.
The junction box has a signal booster in it. Who PAYS for the current used by that booster????? Is it tied to your home? To mine? In any case a cut wire as in my case can take out a lot of homes.

My CLwas not out. I could get any and all websites but TOTV. I got a DNS error. DNS is a program? service? that translates internet address for i.e. Thr Talk of the Villages into 1's and zero's that computers can understand. If DNS does not recognize TOTV you cannot get to the website. In a day or two it fixes itself.

bob47 04-06-2018 06:23 PM

I am having similar problems. Could not get on TOTV for days. Then I was able to connect and everything was normal for days. This afternoon, I have gotten the "could not find server" message but after several tries, the connection was made.

Even now when I am on, sometimes when I open a new forum I get the "could not find server" message. Sometimes it opens the new forum right up. And sometimes it searches for 8 or 10 seconds before it finally opens the new forum.

It's hard to understand how this is a CenturyLink problem, as I have no issue connecting to any other web site. Perhaps a moderator could explain how CenturyLink is causing this.

tomwed 04-06-2018 06:50 PM

It would be great if a moderator explained it.

This I do know. I have reported that I own a chromebook, laptop and Smartphone. All three are on my network. When I have a problem if I take my phone off the network and use it's data plan I can get to TOTV. If I wait a day the software? fixes itself on the other 2.. Others CL customers have reported the same. It's never that just the win 8 laptop can't connect or just the chromebook can't connect. Firefox and Opera don't connect either.

And I don't think I have heard this problem from comcast customers.

So I'll use ultrasurf if and when it happens again and in the meantime let the smarter more experienced posters explain. I know enough about computers that if I can't find a solution online in fifteen minutes I probably won't find a solution online in 15 hrs.
