Meteor Shower Sunday Night
If the clouds clear you might be able to view the Geminid Meteor Shower. Forecasters expect more than 100 meteors per hour to fly out of the constellation Gemini when the shower peaks on Dec. 13th and 14th.
The best time to look will be from 10 pm local time on Sunday night to dawn on Monday morning. http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2...c_geminids.htm |
Which way to look? What part of the sky?
|
Look up! :D
Here's a sky map: http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2...ymap_north.gif See if you can find Orion's belt as a reference point. It's 3 stars in a row. If you turn toward Orion's belt you should see meteors higher in the sky and toward your left. Once you see your first meteor you should have no problem seeing the others. |
