One injured in school shooting in Ocala.

1 injured in Florida high school shooting; suspect in custody, officials say - ABC News

I saw that on my Facebook feeds from the Marion County Sheriff's Office. I follow many Sheriff's Offices and Police Departments around the country.

Details are still coming in. Looks like the high school is in the SE part of Ocala off of Maricamp Road.

So sad...

IMO Movies, video games, TV, puppy love gone bad, Bullying, and lack of parenting why we have all this disgusting behavior. Add the poor judicial and public school system I don't see end to this. Now after all I listed we can blame the Gun, then the bullets. For those of you that blame the gun first, good luck, You can outlaw them and make it death penalty to own gun and it will still probably take 200 years to get rid all of them. By that time they will be antique's due to the laser.

Looks like a kid was shot in the ankle by another kid. Not sure if intentional or accidental. Some person inept with a gun, perhaps.

Student shot at Forest High School in Ocala - News - Ocala.com - Ocala, FL

Ocala, Florida, school shooting: Student wounded at Forest High, authorities say - CNN

We really need to work on support systems to deal with bullying. Both on the side of the aggressor and his/her victims/survivors.

I was being bullied by a Native American with a knife in Reno in Junior High. I just asked a fellow member of his tribe-- a much bigger guy-- for help with dealing with this bully with the knife. That worked, that time. And got along with both of these Native Americans in High School. The "bigger guy" is a leader in his tribe today.

Thought this story seemed strange when it first came out.
See where it goes...

On TV just now the sheriff said that the shooting was intentional and that the shooter was in custody and the victim did not sustain life threatening injuries...and further...

The system in place worked to protect the rest of the students.

hmmm...not a student of the school and inside the building with a short barreled shotgun (sawed off).
Might be time to have metal detectors at the doorways like every post office has.

Our housekeeper was called by the school while at our house today. Her children go to that school. When it is your child or children, and no names are released, and you are told to go immediately to a location without information, it is a nightmare. She said is was a surreal experience and nothing like watching it happen on tv when it has nothing directly to do with you. Thankfully her children are ok and the shooter was found quickly. I do not know an easy answer, I have a lot of opinion, but I do know the panic in her voice and the fear she was experiencing brings it pretty close to home.

This is getting very old and is not a good thing. Not sure exactly what is the root cause, but I don't blame the usual excuses, guns ans mental health. I blame social media and disturbed people looking for instant fame. Whatever is behind this disturbing trend needs to be addressed and solved.

Looks like the shooter got the notoriety he wanted. He was interviewed on the news tonight. Claims after the first shot, he was remorseful, so he didn't shoot any more, and was looking for help for his mental health issues. Wants to be put away so he doesn't hurt anyone else in the future. Appears that he used a shotgun and shot through a door, injuring the teenager in the foot/ankle area.

I wouldn't be surprised if he realized that with the officer there so quickly, he gave up before he "got got". Glad that there was an officer in the school and he responded so quickly.
