Two confirmed cases of Legionaire Disease linked to hot tub in Waterr Oak
 

The Florida Department of Health in Lake County is conducting an investigation of the two laboratory-confirmed cases of Legionnaires’ Disease traced to the hot tub at the club house at the 55+ community of about 1,100 manufactured homes in Lady Lake.

Never, ever like public hot tubs. Scary stuff.

I've had two residential hot tubs. You really have to stay on top of water quality. Chemical free IMO is BS. I checked water every 4 or 5 days and also drained, scrubbed, changed/cleaned filters. Once the surface (under water) becomes slick or scummy feeling time to treat or change the water. Now for commercial hot tub with who knows what getting in and when or if water checked in community or hotel hot tubs no thanks. I never felt comfortable in hotel hot tub anyway with strangers so close.:oops:

Why not just take a hot bath in your own bathtub? Is it really that different? I don't even like using public restrooms, especially after all the news about hand dryers last week...eww.

Had a hot tub for about 15 years now. Never a issue. Just a little upkeep weekly and you are all set.

Public hot tubs = human body parts stew pot....:22yikes:

IF I liked hot tubs, I would own my own. Public hot tubs are gross. The morning news has done investigations into hotel and motel hot tubs and never found any clean ones.

Did you ever notice how many people take a shower before getting into a hot tub or pool? Did you ever hear about Depends? GROSS!!!

Obviously the last thing that anyone could call me is a germophobe, but......the water in a public hot tub reminds me of Louis Pasteur's broth flasks, and the sides remind me of a petri dish. The only way to make the "stew" palatable is by adding lots of "salt"----Sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione dehydrate---it will oxidize everything in the water (including you LOL). Also, ladies, I'd skip the expensive bathing suit in that case, unless you're a fan of "ty-dye".

We'll probably get a hot tub. Our new digs 8460 SE 176th Forsyth St. is real close to Mulberry which is great
