When you hear that someone has driven a van and killed nine people deliberately.

What is your first honest thought?

Me too.

'Multiple casualties' after white rental van strikes at least eight pedestrians in Toronto before fleeing the scene

I have removed my post...not doing this any more.

My first thought was and is a feeling of regret for so many families, and what they have to deal with.

Same first thought when I read of the man pushed under the subway in NYC.

Same when I heard about the killings in the Waffle House, or any of the school children gunned down, or the young child hit by a car during the walkout (although he left the walkout area).

I think of the fear that must have shattered the victims and the witnesses.

The day of these tragedies will change so many lives forever.

I think this social media has put more fuel on the fire and given more incentive to the crazies. How do we stop this ?

I agree and to your question about stopping it.

Nobody is trying.

:agree:

The Waffle House killer has also been caught...and referred to as "disturbed."

I wonder if that's the description that will be used...to describe the van driver?

If not...I wonder why?

Alleged Waffle House Shooter Travis Reinking Arrested

Both of course...are cowardly scumbags.

It sickens and saddens me. No one deserves to die so callously and no family deserves to have to live with the pain. Some of these murderers do deserve some sympathy since they are truly mentally ill and have been for a long time (I.e., Reinking), but their acts still nauseate me. (BTW, I think Reinking’s father should be locked up for a few lifetimes if it is true that he gave the weapons back to Reinking.) To kill another for attention or in the name of a cause, especially a religion, is inexcusable. These murderers are scum, plain and simple. They should be locked in a cell and have the words of survivors and family members piped in nonstop for the rest of their lives.

What in the hell has gone wrong with people? It's like something bad now is happening every single day.

Some people just have no regard for humanity anymore.

You are correct.

Someone mentioned social media, and they are correct. This country just had hearings on a number of different aspects of this. BUT nobody seems to care and there are no plans or actions to even try to fix it. There is no calming voice for us either.

Disregard for humanity in this country is being fed to us, and we seem to just allow it.

Can't think of a mass shooting or terrible crime that prompted our country to change one damn thing.

Gotta stop, but the facts are out there, even some solutions but no leadership, thus it will continue.

Twenty four hour news cycle. When we were younger we were never bombarded with the amount of news we are today. The media is so agenda driven these days that you will be fed news from all around the world almost instantly. If it bleeds it leads..

I think no matter how many laws you have in place, people that want to kill will find a way to kill..
