What are folks allowed to put up for Christmas decorations in TV?

Clark Griswold would be happy here....

Judging by the guy down the street there is no limit to what you can put up. The newspaper even prints locations to see some of the best displays. SECO's cash register is going wild.

About those lamp post snowperson heads.....
does a service come through and install them? Are they leased?

In some places like Bridgeport, they are prevalent...if you are the one without one, your home would be easier to spot.

We were considering inventing a three sided one that could rotate from pumpkin ...to frosty...to a valentine

But ' there 'oughta be a law' against (especially huge) inflatables that look like they have melted.

I agree... why do people put up inflatables and then not have them inflated? Can't figure that out!

L&L...those lamp post heads are individual purchases...to the tune of $40 for one plastic snowman. But, obviously, neighbors get together and start a trend.

Our street has lots of snowmen, but, in some of the areas on the north end I see lots of Santa Claus lampost heads. Go figure.

To Dirigo's original question, there are lots of seasonal decorations and really no practical limit on what you can put out there. The only covenant states that seasonal decorations can stay out for a maximum of 30 days.

Jim and I took a drive around Sunday night with our neighbors in golf carts to look at the decorations. Some are absolutely wonderful. It was around 70 degrees - we wore shorts.

Now we are in Port Clyde and it is 3.9 degrees - F not C.

Welcome back to Maine...where the saying of the week has been "Cold enough for ya?"

In Central Maine it always seems the lower value homes have the inflatables. I suppose inflatables are not inflated 24/7 is because they are inflated by fans blowing air into them and it costs money to run the electric motors?

My wife and I moved to Bonita a couple of months ago after living the last ten years in Boothbay, Maine. We spent the last hour or so driving around the southern half of The Villages and we were extremely impressed with the beautiful Christmas decorations...Wow!

We will always miss Maine especially the dear friends that we left behind but not the five months of winter. As we drove around tonight I caught the smell of a wood fire and for just a second I was back there.

I am impressed with handiman's thoughts and am in agreement with them.
