Is this just a coincidence or something more?

On Friday, December 18th, "The Village Daily Sun" ran a story about people in "sunny states say they're the happiest." Put a different way, 80% of the "10 most happiest" states are traditionally "RED" states and the "10 least happiest" states are traditionally "BLUE" states.

Could this just be a coincidence?

Are liberals unhappy because they are cold?

Are conservatives happy because they are warn?

Is the reason for political bent related to climate?

Is the reason for happiness more to do with political leanings than climate?

Why are the least happy people living in "BLUE" states?

Coincidence? Hmmm, interesting.

It was a national story and the "Cincinnati Enquirer" carried it too. New York is the unhappiest according to this read. Hawaii and Florida are the happiest.

Could be just the glorious sun raises our spirits. There are medical studies that suggest that.

Me neither.

I thought it was very interesting that people in Maine are happier than people in California.

Guest 12-19-2009 10:03 AM

The whole thing IS interesting.

Maybe people in Maine are used to the cold and plan on it while people in California are expecting nice weather.

I have been to California four times, North and South and everytime, even in the summer I have had to wear my sweatshirt constantly, the one I pack just in case. :ohdear:

OR....it could be political.

On the list of the happiest to the least happy

the top five have been in the 80 temperatures this week.
The bottom 5 are under 2-12 inches of snow.

No coincidence there.

Are you familiar with SAD (seasonal affective disorder)? Life is a little more complex with a lot more variables than simplistic political typecasting. Get a life and widen your circle of friends. You might actually learn something...and make friends with people who are fun, challenging and uplifting -- and who disagree with you in a nice way!
Most of us don't give a hoot about media blowhards -- be they lefties or righties. They are provocateurs and promoters...selling their books and trying to raise their ratings to obtain higher advertising revenue. Please ignore these selfish, fear mongers who do not live here. Get to know your neighbors and cherish their differences. If we hung out only with people who agreed with us on everything it would be boring!
Love thy neighbor and ignore the media dividers. They add nothing to our lives.

Chels--Of course you're happy. You're from Chicago. Living in Chicago negates anything else. I'm happiest when I'm in Chicago. Can't wait to get back for a visit.

Chels--- I was born and raised in NE Indiana, but mom was from Chicago so visited grandparents often. I did live there for about a year and worked at the Merchandise Mart. Loved it. My brother now has a condo on the lake and we visit every chance we get. Die hard Cub and Bear fan, however, in my next life I'm switching teams.
