T-Mobile Cel Service
Looking into T-Mobile for my cel provider. They have a 55+ age program for 2 phones unlimited talk, text, & data for $70/month (all taxes included). Would like to know how all Villagers, north-central-south, that have T-Mobile service like their coverage? T-Mobile is buying Sprint so I assume their services and quality of coverage will be combined in the near future. Any advice will be appreciated.

We have that plan and so far only pay $60 a month, but even at $70 I think it's a good plan. We are happy with T Mobile coverage and service in and outside of The Villages.

I have friends who switched to T-Mobile because of the good terms but switched back to Verizon because of poor coverage

I was with Sprint for many years, and every time I read a review of cell phone providers, Verizon was always rated as the best cell phone network. I now have the Comcast cell service that uses the Verizon network. When Sprint called to ask why I cancelled their service, I told them that it was because of their own TV commercials that said their network was inferior to Verizon. Why can't the other cell providers rate as high as Verizon? It just does not make sense to me. Verizon is obviously the best network, so I plan to continue using them.

We think new towers have been built as our T-Mobile service has improved dramatically. Previously dead areas when we are between our home and Lake Sumter now have strong signals.

I would look at Xfinity Mobile (Comcast). I have had it for a year. $12 a month before taxes. You must have Comcast internet. It uses Verizon towers. Great Coverage!

I also have Xfinity Mobile because it uses the Verizon network. Unlimited service for $45 per month. I just checked again and Verizon is still rated as the best cell network. It has been that way for at least 20 years, and I wonder why no company can ever catch up with them?

I have T Mobile for the same reason as you are considering. $60 (including tax and fees) per RV trip out west and the coverage was OK. I'm happy with it.

That got scrambled. $60 per month including taxes and fees. I live in De La Vista north and the signal strength is good.

We have the same plan and are happy with it. Live in Bonita. While in the house, we are connected to wifi for speedier data and for calls. Thee only dead spots I have noticed are in Colony (where several seem to have issues) and a short strectch of 466A between about Buena Vista and the Pinellas. I use an app on my phone for GPS for golf yardages and have no problem getting a signal on any of the golf courses. You really can't beat the deal of $60/month.

For those new to T-Mobile or considering them, we have found them to be very good customer service-wise as well. We've had them for several years now. You can't beat their prices for unlimited text, talk, and data. We have also noticed that over time they seem to be getting better, not worse, which isn't always the case it seems with many of these types of service plans.

Verizon has the better cell tower and hence coverage, overall than the other two.
Just simply merging them together does not make them better. They will have to invest in the newer technology (does not imply they don't) and do something to address coverage. When two companies merge there is a learning curve to determine where the redundancy and overlaps are and then do something about it. Then they will have to address the better coverage and other technology issues. In the mean time Verizon will not be sitting idly by. We use Verizon (14 years) because they have the very best coverage nation wide. We have always had service when others (including AT&T do not). And that is why we pay the higher price. Which I believe in time Verizon will address to get more of the lower priced market. |
