Most things superhero are just bad.

Shallow special effects.

My friend hated this movie and she saw it at special screening.

Her quote. "Nice, a cartoon you can't take your kids to."

Deadpool 2. (Potential Spoilers)

Really liked the very large number of pop culture references in this 2018 movie and especially a few very cool details.

Honestly, why go to a movie and pay real $$ to see glorified video games--see real movies @ home, with real actors, real scenery--wait a month and you see it a home

There’s that positive slant on what some people like doing that we all love so much.

If you really enjoyed Deadpool, you will REALLY enjoy Deadpool 2. A neighborhood buddy of mine and I went to see it and laughed our collective behinds off, as did everybody in the pretty full theater. My buddy is in his mid-70s and the young ladies sitting next to him looked to be in their mid-20s and they were laughing as much as he was. And if you see it, for God's sake, stay through all the end credits!

My wife and I just re-watched Deadpool and she enjoyed it more at home because the ample gore and violence was a little easier to take on the small screen plus she could turn on the subtitles to catch all the lines and pause the action long enough to have me explain the occasional pop culture reference. She decided to do the same for this one and did not join us but looks forward to seeing it at home.

I do that with many movies of late. Wait for the Blu-Ray so I can go through it with subtitles and go through some scenes frame-by-frame.

I like to look at the art in the photography and the like and other very cool surprises.

Well, most of us on this forum ARE retired...

I actually got the Blu-Ray of the fairly awful "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" solely to go over the visuals on an almost frame-by-frame basis. They are amazingly creative, not surprising given that it's by the same director as "The Fifth Element". Too bad "Valerian" has such terrible dialog, stiff acting and zero chemistry between the stars...

I bought that Blu-Ray when it came out but still have not watched it again. The visuals were quite beautiful in Valerian.

I am not retired though. Do a lot of creative work online. It is voluntary activism so far and many posters know this. I am closing in on 35,000 posts on Talk of the Villages, so it is not like my views and story are unknown on Talk of the Villages and here in the Villages where we have been since 2005. I am extremely active on Facebook much more than TOTV.

Movies are part of this creative activism and have been for decades. Four degrees from five schools give me a lot of contacts to work with as does having lived in eight states. Those four degrees include a law degree from the U of MN (1989) and a Librarianship MA from the U of Denver (1984).

DO NOT SEE IF:

1. you are sensitive to "bad language"
2. you do not like to see blood & guts
3. you find it difficult to watch lots of CGI
4. you do not like Marvel characters +++
5. you like to catch on to all the pop culture inserts
6. you like to understand all dialog and banter

I watched most of Deadpool (1) on cable/TBS and thought it was quite good - funny, and of course they cut some of the gore and bleeped the XX language.

Deadpool 2... was on overdrive - the language thruout became embarrassing, and I am no prude...but Man Hollywood...c'mon - EVERY XXX word galore. The CGI was very good, but my eyes hurt after a while. I seemed to miss some dialog---spoken so quickly...but glad I did not see the 1st Monday showing with CC - enough to HEAR all the language, but to SEE it too.

The movie became so much of #s 1-6 for me I was going to leave after about 1/2 hour, but stuck it out. The last 10 minutes of the movie was the best and the credit-insert sequences of cuteness. But it was a looong way to that point for me. BTW there were about 8 people at the 1:10 showing when it started, but over the first 1/2 hour 3 had left, never came back....I was close to making it 4.
