Very helpful, thanks!

Interesting site, but it does NOT show at least 2 sink holes in TV that I know existed and were remediated.

Please don't just look at the map, read the page explaining how the data on the map was obtained. It admits that the map is very incomplete.

The explanation is HERE

All reporting is voluntary and from looking at the map it is obvious that our local officials have not been reporting the sinkholes in the villages to the state agency. Citizens may submit incident reports but that is unlikely as there is no benefit to doing so. Insurance companies apparently don't report either.

So at best, all one can conclude is that certain areas of the state are more prone to sinkholes than other areas. There is a lengthy report issued in the 1980's during Governor Graham's administration reviewing karst in the state.

The state / counties should be required to keep all informed with a current list of known sinkholes.

All, I spent over an hour looking at various sites for sinkhole information, the most comprehensive site I found had information as of 2008! Another site that appeared to have lots of info required a paid subscription. NONE of the state or county sites appeared to have any up to date information, most went to 2015. Basically I could not find any site with decent up to date info, and NONE of the sites showed the remediated sinkhole less than 300 feet from our house 2012-2013.
I agree with a previous comment that the local governmental entities should be required to report ALL instances of these occurances, as well as the cause once this has been determined.

I agree. Should not have to pay to get this information. This should be available, and up to date, not decade old 2008 data.

There is really no incentive for local officials to report sinkholes. If there are a lot of sinkholes listed for an area, property values could go down, or potential buyers might buy elsewhere. I agree with other posters, I looked at several areas where there have been sinkholes reported near certain golf courses, before the date of the map, and the sinkholes were not on there. The map is a joke, it is very incomplete. Kevin & Josie - you have a good idea - it should be a requirement for state/county officials to report sinkholes.
