Just read an article about the new OS coming this fall. The article was about a new feature called Screen Time, which records the number of times you pick up your iPhone, the time you spend on each ap, and compares it to an average. The writer as well as the Apple CEO was shocked at how much he used the phone. His average was 5 hours per day and he picked up the phone 245 times per day on average.

But that wasn’t what got my attention. It was a comment in the article from someone else that said we must hold the apps accountable for the time we spend on the phone and the effect that has on our relationships. Exciuse me? Is he saying these apps shove the phone into your hands and force you to look at them? Really? How about a little self control. Geez.

Any software developer worth their weight would, of course, include elements to get you to go to the phone.

Is it an email, a sports update, message from MOM, movie ticket confirmation, booty call, weather alert.......?

Heck if I'd want them recording all that information. What are they going to do with it?

They know too much already. I tried disconnecting for 2 days and made it twelve hours.

I think I better go refile my taxes.
