Well, thanks, Rap. I thought so, but I couldn't find any images with the buff color. Also Peterson's says it has "large white wing patches." Do you think it may be a female?

Not sure. We feed a dark Muscovy often at one of the ponds. It reminds us of some ducks we had on a military base overseas.

Gracie, dear, thank you! One image on your link showed male and female together, and it does appear to be a female that I photographed.

PS: This is my 1,000th post. I'm catching up with you!

Muscovy Duck

It is a Muscovy Duck. Although generally thought to be a solid white duck, Muscovy Ducks come in various colors. They also mate with other breeds of ducks, often with Mallards, producing a multi-colored duck that is infertile.

There is a Mallard in the photograph you provided. Muscovys and Mallards are often found together.
