2015 Yamaha gas cart high voltage
 

Battery on the cart went dead a couple of months ago and replaced it. Ever since then, voltage has been running about 17+volts; Saturday, while playing CG, a couple of times the cart starts acting like it won't start when pushing the accelerator down; I finally get it going and head home; voltage showing 9 volts. I make it in the garage and that's it - dead.

Yesterday, I replaced the voltage regulator, charged the battery, take it for a test drive and everything seems fine, voltage around 14-15 volts; turn around during the test drive, accelerate and voltage goes back up to 17+ volts. Take it out again today, voltage 14-15 until I slow down to make a turn and boom - back to 17+ volts. Check all connections, go out again, same thing all over.

Perplexed as to what is going on. Any advice?

I'm wondering maybe the starter generator?

But isn't that cart still covered by factory warranty, or is it shorter than 5 years if electrical in nature?

Hopefully the "GCTech" (or similar name) will chime in.

We see that with the yamahas. The Fix requires no parts just knowledge of the issue. Take it too your favorite repair facility and they will be able to fix it

Ill add, Ive seen some shops put a new battery, new voltage regulator and new starter, only to have the same issue. So as a learning tool for everyone, That's not the fix.
