Where and what is one of your favorite desserts?

Hostess Devil Dogs. You put them in the freezer. Granted, I set the bar pretty low.

Growing up, we didn't venture south of downtown much, so once a year we enjoyed a Schmidts cream puff at the Ohio State Fair.

I grew up in German Village before it was fashionable.

There was a German restaurant in Chicago that had some very good desserts. Fresh Food In A Family Friendly Restaurant | Downtown Chicago German Cuisine

Prediabetes. Why am I in this thread?

Homemade apple pie and vanilla ice cream. I like to use a mix of 3 or 4 different apples, but mostly Macintosh, and bake it until the apples are almost mush and the crust is golden brown. Serve warm with Costco vanilla ice cream.

Every 10 years or so, I treat myself to an old-fashioned banana split for my birthday.
There sure are a lot of food threads on here lately.....

I have and I was disappointed. I don't recall the sort of "French" pastry they sell there as the German I knew.

I have wondered why and again, Germany was regional in cooking too. My grandfather came from south of Munich and my grandmother from Stuttgart.. Dense wonderful rye breads and lots of amazing vegetables grown in peoples back yards were always on their table and good fresh beer and wine from their own grapes.

My favorite deserts include chocolate eclairs. Haven't found any good ones in years. Also love paczki's around Lent but the Publix stores are kind of hit or miss on whether they have them or not. Frankly they are not the best in the world, and there is not a good variety.

Worlds Best Cream Puffs

My house! Just made them from scratch yesterday for company last night. Deep dark chocolate icing, almond cream filling and light-as-air pastry. Only 3 left for snacking tonight.
