Retired sports stars in the villages?
 

Hello everyone,

I am doing some research and I was wondering if there are any retired sports "people" that are generally well-known in the villages? Doesn't have to be players, per se, but sports related generally. Thanks in advance!

There are a few but I know I wouldn’t give out their personal information here (or anywhere else). Sorry.

What do you mean by “sports people”? Those how have accomplished sports thresholds? (Triathlon times? Or set records in sporting events? Etc?) or are you just talking about golf?

sorry for being vague. no need for their personal info, just want to know their "known as" names. to clarify, anyone who would be generally well known in the sports world and someone who is well known as a village resident who lived a life in some sports sector. hopefully that clarifies more.

And just what will you do with this information?

While this is nothing but an interesting first post/thread...I'll play along. :D

When renting here the first time about 2009, I walked on Palmer and ended up with a group...that included a Bowling Hall of Fame member who lives (lived?) here.

While I don't follow professional bowling closely, I did recognize his name from occasionally watching professional bowling on Saturday afternoon...that one of the three major networks used to broadcast.

I really don't understand your response. Was this kind of a snarky reply that I know and you don't. Why would you even respond? I am not trying to be a smart Alec maybe you could help me

Could you be more specific? I mean, we all have had 15 minutes of fame. And I won a bunch of Little League participation trophies and a few college drinking contests.:icon_wink:

I won some yo-yo contests and marbles tournaments when I was a kid.

Personally, I think redwitch's reply is very reasonable.

As a teenager I won spin the bottle many times.
Even if I didn't I would still kiss the girl.
Now I have concerns about running for political office

There is an occasional sports memorabilia show usually at Laurel Manor that you may want to attend. Could be a good chance to get information from the participants who are Villages residents

There are many, many PARENTS of famous sports figures and entertainers in The Villages. Even the Morse Family has Megan Boone in Hollywood.
