Living Outside of the Villages

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the diffrence of living outside the Villiages or inside. Prices of homes seem to be less in other Villiages and I was wondering why. Thanks for your input

One does not live in TV because of the cost of a house. One lives in TV because of the Lifestyle which no one else has

Why? The people, the lifestyle, the activities and amenities, the roundabouts-- no, wait, scratch that one-- the laughter, great neighbors, the sense of community, the list goes on. We serve way better kool-aid!

I thought the kool aide comment was not going to be used anymore.

Hi, Bogie Shooter,
Curious why you thought that? I hope you didn't think it poisoned me! :beer3:

OH....please come and see what fun we have!

The previous posters are all completely spot on.

If you live outside you have one golf course, (not 29 executive and 9 champion), Some clubs, (not over 1000) One rec center, (I lost count of rec centers...Village07?) You can swim in any of the myriad of family pools or choose the bunch of pools for grownups only.

If you live outside the villages there is NO Lifelong Learning College, (MY very favorite next to the people) You can get most anywhere in your golf cart and enjoy the cute, smart, bright, retro, stylish and imaginative other golf carts you pass.

I truly believe that friendly people who love to be with other friendly people are drawn to this beautiful place.

Actually Gracie, you may not realize it, but you don't have to be a Villager to use the Lifelong Learning College, but I believe being a Villager does give us Priority on signing up for courses. Obviously the advantages of TV is its a golf cart community, as others mentioned, it has many more golf courses, softball fields, pools, etc. (although no indoor pool or indoor gym), many more clubs, etc. Grocery stores and doctors are close by. Everything is very convenient. At least right now, there is a steady influx of newcomers, which makes it easy to meet people and to make friends. With all the clubs, too, there are many opportunities for socializing and making friends. I'm not sure you'd get that in a smaller community. Also, some of the smaller retirement communities I've seen tend to have a lot of older people. If you are younger, you may not find people your age. With the steady turnover in TV, I don't think that would be a problem.

Probably the biggest difference is how much you drive your car. In most of those other places, you get in the car for everything. Even if you want to go to one of our town squares. Here the car is hardly ever used. You use the golf cart for most everything. So yes, you can probably buy for less, but in the longer term it will cost you more and you will not have nearly as much. Age old problem, you get what you pay for.

I think you mean FREE gym? There are some indoor gyms but I know there is some frustration on this issue (search previous posts on the subject).

GOLF! Especially "free" executive golf everyday for life.

:welcome:My wife and I looked at many different areas of Florida before deciding on TV.We had been to TV 8 plus years ago for the first time to visit friends.TV sparked an intrest for us but we still had to be fair and check out other areas. After looking in all directions from TV nothing came close. Some were beautiful properties, some have since gone belly up, one we were very interested in we drove through recently and the piece of property we had a deposit on 4 years ago was still available, as a matter of fact so were many, many more. So I have to agree with all the other posters, I can buy a house anywhere but there's only one place to buy TV. One of my favorite things is on a quiet morning getting in the golf cart and riding around the beautiful clean grounds, seeing people smiling, walking, off to clubs and everybody waves at you and says hello or good morning. That's what TV is all about.:a040::MOJE_whot:

As much as we like TV, I can certainly see why some people may prefer something different. Maybe a little more laid back lifestyle, different styles of housing and lot sizes etc. That's why it's so impotant to do your homework and research possible locations.

Outside .vs. inside

I've yet to purchase a home, but I have been conducting quite a lot of research. It's certainly true, that you can get more house for the money, if you purchase outside TV. But, as indicated in many of the posts here, you do not get the TV lifestyle. Not quite sure how to put a value on the lifestyle, but I'll be buying in TV.....

There's so much more to TV than golf. Just take a look at the upcoming art workshops with internationally acclaimed artists: http://artworkshopsinthevillages.com/schedule
