Has anyone built in TV using plans from another developer?
 

I believe you are limited to only Villages models.

Couldn't hurt to ask but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Bless your little innocent heart. That was me a couple of years ago wondering things like that.. It is VERY limited as far as choices when it comes to houses that are built for you and those are ONLY the ones that TV is building. The interior choices are limited too, for instance if you want a granite countertop that is not one offered, you just buy it with formica and have it removed and put in your choice later. We have built several times in our life and The Villages way of doing building and customizing was a completely new experience.

It isn't as awful as it sounds, but it does require some getting used to...and forgive me for laughing, it wasn't at you, it was at all that I have learned about TV since I too asked that question.

People have made what I consider very similar interiors look their very own. I enjoy seeing the results but it does need creativity and money.

But you know what? I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Edited. I just read this and it sounded kind of smart aleck and I didn't mean it to. It will all work out, I promise.

With the exception of the historical sectiuin(s), Didn't 'they' allow/have some variations within the npast decade or so? In noodling around on the bikes we've seen some places that look a bit different - maybe there were some "retired' styles.

If you buy an old manufactured home in the historic section and tear it out and build new I don't believe the replacement home has to be a villages model.

I would pick the Villages model that comes as close to what I wanted as possible. Then over time remodel the interior to get even closer to your "dream home". In the Villages, you are buying a lifestyle more then a home. So getting it somewhat close would be the better way to go. Even buying a resale that might need a lot of work, if you can find one with about the same outside dimensions could be an option. There are so many models to chose from, something has to come close.

NOPE !! They won't let you do it.....the developer has house plans that are pre-approved for construction by the respective countys...(even the wiring and heating has been OK's ........so that when they are ready to build another house they just go ahead without waiting for inspectors ......However keep in mind that some of the models that you can choose from are just gorgeous...........

I think the first thing I would do is find out from VCCD if Chuckinca's idea of building your dream home in the historic section would work.

Second, I'd become familiar with all TV floor plans to see if I could love one (perhaps with creative modifications) as much or more than the one I'd found.

If neither is the case, I'd probably ask myself:

What was it specifically about that house that made it so special to me that I would consider not living in TV? Could I replicate the "the magic," if not the exact floor plan, in a TV home?

Why do I want "so badly" to live in TV? Could I find or make "that magic" somewhere else?

Which of these factors is more important to me and why. I know what I would do, but no one else could possible answer these questions for you.

I hope whatever you decide, you can do it without regrets. Best way to avoid regrets, I think, is to fully understand both your options and your passions, then commit to your decision with enthusiasm and without second-guessing.

I agree. Although there are many styles to choose from, when building your dream home you would still prefer more options. That being said, I am just now finding out how hard it is to decorate our new home - realizing that after a long day of lifestyle choices, you still need to come home. It has suddenly hit me that creative modifications should be very high on my list of things to do. I don't know if I need a designer, construction worker or both. If anyone has done anything out of the ordinary with your "Natchez" - (or similar home style) I would love to hear from you. Thanks!
