Smell on El Diablo
Played El Diablo today. The lake on 7 and 8 has a very strong smell like sewage. Actually, almost made me sick it was that bad. Does anybody know what is going on there ? Is this a byproduct of them having to turn off the fountain in the middle of the lake ?

When you get those smells from water, it is due to anaerobic conditions (low or no oxygen). The fountain would add oxygen to the water, having it off can (depending upon the chemicals and water conditions) cause the lake to go anaerobic. Another thing they can do is to introduce a bubbler (like in most home aquariums). This till cause currents in the lake, thus keeping the water at the bottom of the lake oxygenated.
... or it could be a decomposing golfer .... EEK! |
We noticed that smell at the El Santiago pool as well!

That smell has been in that area for the 16 yrs I’ve lived here. It’s sewage ...whatever the problem, it’s never been corrected

 Okay, I'll go out on a limb here and guess that it is coming from the sewage plant across El Camino Real from the course. :ohdear:

Too many golf balls hit into the lake.

It's part of "El Diablo" - the smell of "The Devil".:icon_wink:

The smell is coming from all those " stinky " golf swings

Like the person earlier replied, it's the waste water treatment plant. Sometimes smells pretty bad!

Glad I don’t golf
