Thank you. Canadian compassion and friendship will never be forgotten. I also remember their part in this episode.

'Flags flown on poles affixed to a home or building are not to be flown at half staff but a memorial streamer can be affixed to the top of the flagpole to signify half staff.'

9/11 was a horrible tragedy perpetrated against all Americans, conservatives and liberals alike. Don't make this a political argument. It was an attack on all of us.

Thank you, CFrance. And thank you also to our friends and neighbors to the north, Canada.

You ARE correct.

But today, we get mixed signals....the made up thing on NFL has made everyone much more sensitive, when it could have been used to bring us together.

I find many confusing issues because of things like that, and the country simply suffers. Such a chaotic day to day we have now.

But. you nail it with a comment on 9/11 and if you recall those labels just disappeared for a bit.....

I was a career firefighter in Western NY at the time. I just got home from my shift when I saw the attack and the aftermath on TV. 343 Firefighters died that day. Our department was requested to send crews down there a few days later, and we did.

That night President Bush stated that America had a "Quiet Unyielding Anger". Perfect description of our collective emotion. Innocents died horribly while a few danced in the streets.

Sadly, many have now lost that "Quiet Unyielding Anger". Some have even lost their pride in our country as the "last great hope of the world".

As I type this, there are STILL 5 Radical Islamic Terrorists who attacked us that day sitting in a cell in Guantanamo Bay. No trial, no justice.

That next day, many said, "Never Forget". Many have.

Yes, I believe in peace and forgiveness.....built on the foundation of justice and pride of our wonderful unique country and our determination to preserve our American Exceptionalism.

On a lighter note, Superman said it best....."Truth, Justice and the American Way".

Just my humble thoughts.....Frank D.

9-11 will forever be etched in my brain because we were in Canada at that time visiting my brother. We could not get back into the USA, and nothing is more frightening than being locked out of your country. The Canadians we met were wonderful people and did everything in their power to make us feel safe until we could leave.

I am though, concerned that over 1300 people checked a post on here regarding crime in the fall as compared to the few who have checked a 9-11 post. Where are our values?
