Fenney to Town Square ?

Hi all,

I recently visited TV and loved it ! So now planning my retirement lol ! If I were to live in Fenney and wanted to go to the town squares via golf car, how far / long of a ride would that be ? (Once the bridge and tunnels are in place) TIA

I would strongly suggest speaking to a salesperson. You'll get accurate information that you will find beneficial.

Fenney to Brownwood town square is very doable but I'm not sure how long it will take. Fenny to Lake Sumter Landing will be a long ride but you will be retired so who cares? Fenney to Spanish Springs town square will be way too long of a ride. Pack a lunch and sit on a cushion while riding in your golf car!

How accurate the information you get will be highly dependent on who you speak with, specifically - and I'm just going to leave that comment right there. The only comparison for the trip from Fenney to Brownwood I have heard first hand from anyone representing The Villages was "it will be about the same as riding from The Village of Osceola Hills to Brownwood today". I haven't made that exact trip, personally, but I would estimate it around 15 to 20 minutes.

If you look at the projected golf cart trails, that should all be connected by January 2020, it is really not that far of a trip to Brownwood. That will be the "point of entry" as far as getting to any other, existing, town squares. Brownwood to Lake Sumter Landing is 15 - 20 minute GC ride and then Lake Sumter to Spanish Springs is another 15 minutes maybe. I am in Fenney and am expecting the trip from here to Brownwood to be around 15 to 20 minutes, but that could vary by several minutes depending on where you start from down here.

I agree with about 20 minutes once opened. However, as they build farther south and east it could take well over 30 minutes to get up/over there.

I think there may be multiple town squares below 44 at some point. I remember that one was announced but the location was not available.

Lake Deaton to Brownwood is 25-30 minutes in a golf cart. Add that to the 4 miles Fenney ride to Lake Deaton.

As a resident of Lake Deaton, it takes me no more than 15 minutes to get to Brownwood by cart, and I can be at Grand Traverse Shopping Center in 21 minutes.

Not sure how you came up with that. The golf cart trails that will go from Fenney area to Brownwood go nowhere near Lake Deaton. From Fenney, you will take a tunnel under CR468, go by the new Everglades rec center (not yet constructed), ride parallel to the turnpike in the direction of US301, cross a bridge over the turnpike where it will then be almost a straight shot to another bridge crossing 44, then a small bridge cross a pond, right into the parking lot at Brownwood.

It's very misleading if you look at how you currently have to travel from the rest of The Villages to Fenney, crossing 44 by Rohan and the down 468 which goes south and slowly sweeps east to Fenney. If you imagine yourself taking that same ride in a golf cart, you'd say no way is that a reasonable ride. But compare that route on a map beside the planned route to Brownwood on the same map. You'll see it's a much shorter, direct route.

I'm thinking the poster meant the Village of Lake Deaton, not the actual lake.

First off, it helps to be clear about whether they are talking about the actual Lake Deaton, or the Village of Lake Deaton. Either way, though, the planned GC route does not pass through either to get from Fenney to Brownwood.

The poster is insinuating that the route somehow passes through Lake Deaton (either the village or the actual lake), and it does not. It's an apples and oranges comparison.

Geez. Take it easy!

Talk me down, please.

Seriously, though, this is how misinformation gets out there, like how Fenney is just one quarry explosion and prison PA announcement after another. FAKE NEWS! :)

Just retired, living in Fenney. It's not a big deal getting in the car and driving to Brownwood. Maybe 10-15 minutes depending on traffic.

Being newly retired, I don't know how great it is to ride everywhere in the golf cart. Used to live in San Jose, couldn't get anywhere in 15 minutes and once I got there took a while to find a parking space. Just happy being here and not working.

So 2 years and it will be connected or there will be a new town square closer to Fenney. Life is good.
