Village Mover vs. Village Movers

A word of caution – If you are looking for a moving company, beware of a company called Village Movers with an “s”, phone number 352-812-6981 located in Oxford FL. John Dominic Sullivan with Village Movers misrepresented to me that he was the same Village Mover which is owned by Mike Collop located in Fruitland Park. The very reputable Mike Collop Village Mover, has large black trucks with the name “Village Mover” on the sides of their trucks with the phone number 352-751-2750 and have done many, many moves for people throughout The Villages and elsewhere. If you google John Dominic Sullivan and Village Movers with the phone number 352-812-6981, you will read the horror stories and negative reviews from many people who had hired this man. Mr. Sullivan even has complaints against him with the BBB.

There's a Villages Movers, a Village Mover, and a Village Movers? Doesn't anyone have a lawyer? [emoji6]

Maybe, but a heads up can't hurt--do you think everyone who complains about service smart or tire choice are working for their competition---too many villagers get screwed by unscrupulous contractors every year

Those names are very confusing.

We used Mike in Fruitland Park with the big black trailers when we moved from one house to another here in the Villages. $400 and 4 hours and it was over.

Fastest, cleanest, quickest move in my life. After they moved everything in to the new house, we realized that we actually wanted the stuff in the two smaller bedrooms swapped. In 10 minutes it was done, without complaint.

(I am not affiliated with Village Mover).

Why would someone affiliated with that company post a negative review?

Apparently, there are 3 separate businesses with those names, but none of them care. I checked the Florida official name registration website for corporations and LLCs, and none of those names are registered with the State of Florida. It is very easy and inexpensive to register a name with the state and set up an LLC (limited liability company). A little more difficult to set up a corporation.

Companies are usually very protective of their name identity. You're right that nobody seems to care as long as they get 'Village' in there somewhere.

Village Mover does have an LLC

Are you sure? I searched on the official Florida website, and that name does not appear as an LLC or as a corporation.

OK, but this thread is about the names Village Mover vs Village Movers vs Villages Movers. If you don't register the name, you cannot prevent someone else from using it. None of these companies has officially registered their business name.

I'm not an attorney, having never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, but was just chiming in about the LLC portion. Being a layperson, the three names listed above are not the same.

I'm not an attorney either, but I have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express. If I had a moving company named Village Mover or anything else, I would register the name as an LLC, so I could prevent someone from using a similar name to try to confuse my customers. Registering an LLC business is easy peasy and very cheap to do.

I always check the BBB website to make sure they are a good business. The real Village Mover is listed on there as number one.
