Hurricane Shutters

Does anyone know if hurricane shutters are allowed on Courtyard villas, and, if they are, what kind are most often used. Are they the roll down, accordian or the type with just tracks installed and one manually has put the panels up when needed. Does anyone know of a local supplier/service?

3M makes film to protect glass in storms or breakins

Honestly, I wouldn't waste my money. Unless we have even more major climate changes, the winds here just don't get strong enough to need shutters. The 3-M film should be sufficient protection if you truly feel the need to do anything. Shutters won't protect you from a tornado and the risk is much higher for that than hurricane force winds here.

shutters

We actually removed them from our courtyard villa. They looked ugly and blocked some of the view. We were told they were useless anyway.
If we hear of a bad hurricane on the way, we are leaving town.

As a Red Cross volunteer, I have seen the destruction they cause. I was in FL for the 2004 hurricane disasters (4 hurricanes in a row) and for Katrina. I refused to move to FL and live anywhere near the coasts, so TV is perfect.

We asked our TV sales rep about hurricane shutters when we were there. He told us that they are not necessary in TV because it is so far inland.

Being born and raised in Florida and living in Fla for a good portion of my life, I've always lived on the coastal areas where hurricane shutters were an absolute necessity, so finding out that they were not necessary in The Villages was another plus.

Agree

Agree BB, and when the roof is blown off it really does not matter about hurricane shutters! :clap2:
