Courtyard with two showers?

We hope to buy a courtyard villa in March, but want two walk in showers, instead of one, and a tub. Has anyone done this, and if so, what was the cost. Soon to be your neighbors! Mike and Sandra Randell

Hope you get an answer to this also because we would like to convert second bath to walk in shower.

No replies yet. Mike removed the tub in our current home in VA, but when buying a new home at TV's it would be great to have two walk in showers to begin with. Apparently that's not negotiable. Seems a shame to tear up a new house :(

I'm happy the CYN's have a tub in one of the bathrooms. Probably because sometimes I just like to have a good soak in a hot bubble bath. Plus when grandkids come, it's easier putting them in the tub and throwing in a few bubbles to keep them happy. I just couldn't imagine trying to give small ones a shower, but then maybe that's just me.

Personally because of these 2 reasons, I would not even look at a house without a tub in one of the bathrooms.

Kohler makes a shower pan with both left and right side drains that replaces a tub, sterling also has a cheaper one.I did my bathroom this past year was not that hard

Think about possible resale. A house needs a tub in order to sell.

Good point. Thanks for the input

I can not speak to the cost for a courtyard upgrade but I do remember asking our realtor that question back in 2008. Her comment was that it would cost about $5K to convert a shower stall to a walk-in for a Lantana. The sales staff most likely would have an answer for you.

Many older people and disabled individuals also have a need for a bathtub rather than a shower. Another thing to think about if you plan to be here for a while.

I must be missing something. I was also considering converting my Lantana's hall bath because my mother comes to visit for several months a year. I have tried to get her to use our bathroom, but she wants to use her own. I worry about her losing her balance trying to get in and out of the tub. Why wouldn't an older or disabled person be better off with a walk in shower with a chair inside? I didn't think it would hurt resale at all? Of course I have never been a "bath" person.

AHA! You got it! The very reason I want to replace the tub, with a shower stall is because I am sight impaired. If the master is occupied, I would like the opportunity to use either bathroom. :) Guess Mike will be tearing up a new bathroom. He learned how to remove an ancient cast iron tub (special saw) and replaced it with a Lowes walk shower stall kit, which even has with seats. Appreciate everyone's input. Guess future re-sale will be our son's problem!

We are building a new Bridgeport and I can tell you the bath tub is not that big. I think an adult would have a hard time actually sitting down in that tub and not have their knees under their chins. Trying to get up and down for a bath is not an option anymore for us so the extra shower would work better for the three of us.
