There always is. I-95 is a work in progress.

I came back from NC the day before the hurricane and except for the evacuation traffic, it was smooth sailing. You never know. Some parts were closed because of flooding after the hurricane, but I'm sure that is ok now.

It's too much trouble to drive down, stay home and send your money :)

Leave early Saturday morning in the middle of the month to have the least amount of traffic.

My husband and I always drive I95 down from NY. We leave early morning on a Saturday, stop overnight in North Carolina, finish the trip on Sunday. Except for a little traffic here and there, never had a real problem with it yet. We do weekends because he feels weekdays going through Washington will be too busy. Hope this helps.

There are apps for your phone that tell you traffic conditions minute by minute;

app that shows delays on national highways - Bing

That can be said with any of the freeways. I just travel slower and not rush.

We came down last week on 95, normal traffic. Avoided DC and Richmond as always. We were unable to stay in our usual hotel in Florence SC, (we have a dog) due to evacuees and utility workers occupying the rooms. God bless them.
