Just curious, what are the pros and cons of this surgical process versus a traditional knee replacement? A new left knee is in my future, the right one has already been successfully replaced with the traditional method.

I’m in the same situation and would be interested to know, also.

As I understand it, Pro's - less intrusive, less cutting of muscles and tendons, faster rehab and recovery. Con's - limited history to understand long term sustainability. I had both knees done the old way (oldest one in '99) and was told at that time the sustainability would be 15 years if I took care of it. It will be 20 next year. I had a hip replaced earlier this year from the side and recovery was easy. I discussed my knees and he said that when I need to have it re-done they would do it from the side.....will be much easier that the original way.

Lateral is less invasive, depending on the dr, faster recovery. Pain is less depending on the patients tolerance. You go home same day.

Dr. Nguugen 407-355-3210. He is so good that there is waiting list, excellent ortho.

I'm voting for Side surgery. Had mine done by Dr. Ngugen 2013. Great Dr. Clearly recommended by me. Less pain, quicker recovery.

I had both knees done by Dr. Nguyen in 2015. He's great, surgery in Orlando. Now Dr. Williams does the same procedure and he's in the Sharon Morse Bldg. Neighbors have had him do it and have had the same good results that I had from Dr. Nguyen. The advantage with Dr. Williams, you won't have to wait as long, he's much closer to us and his PT unit is right there in his office and convenient to get to.
