The Opera Aida

Today at 12:55 at the Rialto, the Opera Aida will be shown from the Met in HD with Dolby sound. The Ad in the paper was unreadable. Hope to see some of you there. Len & Mary

The production and sound were wonderful. These productions are Live Streamed from New York and are worth seeing. Hopefully future presentations will be advertised. Len & Mary

They are in the newspaper and on the Villages Movie Theater sites. THE VILLAGES THEATRES

I saw some people going into the auditorium showing this while I was going into see Alfred Hitchcock's Marnie with a full pair of hands-- popcorn, soda and a hot dog. Got these free with the purchase of a Fright Pass to go see any Hitchcock movie playing in their festival as many times as I want. Good deal for $35.

I will have to go to one of these live broadcasts at some time. If I remember correctly they are a flat $15.00 a ticket for anyone??

We were at Aida, and it was an excellent production. While I was not thrilled by the tenor, the horses performed flawlessly.

We paid $12.50 each.

OK. Thanks for the correction. There was quite a storm-- lots of hard rain-- while Marnie was showing yesterday about the same time. Not one of Hitchcock's better movies.

I might have passed you in the hallway to the movie theater screens as a few people needed direction by the usher/ticket tacker to right auditorium. Screen 2 I believe.

Yup, screen 2. I was wearing light blue shorts and with a white shirt with blue and red stripes, and lugging a 74-ounce paper cup of Sprite.

I am impressed. Opera other than HMS Pinafore is above my skills to appreciate.

No, Gracie dear, it really isn’t. These days, nearly all performances have English subtitles. In the larger venues, such as the Metropolitan in NYC, the subtitles are shown on the back of the seat in front of you, displayed in your choice of language. You could watch Pinafore in German(!).
