Hurricane Michael

From what I can see on-line it looks like the Villages is dodging a bullet with today's storm, however, we are up north and can not tell for sure. Can people who are in the Villages please give us folks up north some updates throughout the day about the wind and rain from the storm? Thanks, and good thoughts for the people in the path of this storm.

The current forecast/graphics would indicate TV will get wind and rain from the outer bands. Much like the usual afternoon thunder storms we get regularly.

Right now, the wind is gusting and it is overcast. DH will take our flag down; it is better to stay out of trouble.

It looks like some rain will be coming in about 4:00 EST. We could use the rain, it has been dry lately. I don't expect any real trouble.

So in Duval no more wind than usual, cloudy, but no rain as of yet. Leaving to play golf soon. But no worries I am sure the grocery is out of bread and milk

The movement of the clouds look like this is the very far outer bands of Michael. Kind of pretty this far out but I feel for what the people up in the Panhandle are facing.

Professor, without knowing precisely what the danger is, would you say it's time for our viewers to crack each others heads open and feast on the goo inside?

I think it is, Kent.

I like to check Weather Underground for specific local conditions. It's a network of private weather stations. Here's an example of one about a mile from me. A few stations also have webcams.

Thanks for the updates. Last year our annual golf vacation with my golf buddies from up north got canceled because of Irma so we bumped the trip out 5 week to get out of the worst of the hurricane season. We are flying south next Tuesday and feared another trip would be effected by a hurricane, but it looks like we are good to go. Can't wait to get to the Villages : )
