Solar Powered Golf Carts?
 

Are they popular in TV? If not, why not? Less maintenance, no need to charge them (though IIRC they can be charged at the plug if you have a week of no sun, for example), no gas. Better for the environment, no more or less attractive than any other standard Club Car. Most of them have a max speed of around 25MPH, so that makes them perfect for TV golf cart paths.

Solar cart roof panels can be fitted on 8-passenger carts too.

I know a guy who had solar power. Still had to plug it in as solar panel was slow to charge. His cart ended up burning up due to faulty wiring.

I suspect that, with such a small area of PV cells, the charging potential would be rather low unless you left the cart out in the sun all day, so you would still need to plug it in if you wanted to make regular trips in it.

Put solar panels on your house roof instead (the cost per square foot would be a lot lower) then when you use that electricity to recharge your cart you are still being green.

As pointed out above this was extensively discussed before, but one other thing to think about, golf carts already have a high center of gravity, adding 50 pounds or more at the roof line will cause the golf cart to become more top heavy, and possibly subject to falling over when going around a curve, especially at 25 MPH!
The maximum you can get out of a set of PV panels that would fit on a golf cart is around 200 watts, or about 5 amps for a 48 volt cart, your charger is probably 30 amps(?) and takes several hours to fully charge.

And can you imagine all the solar panels that would get smashed in the golf cart tunnels!

My guess is they would not work very well. You would have to keep outside in the sun all day long. You could not get much power from the panels. Consider adding a few solar panels to your roof and plugging the cart into these to charge during the day. In the long run this would probably not work either. My home produces 100% of its electric by solar but about half of the electricity comes from the utility when I have clouds, rain, or at night. Guess I can say my golf cart is solar although it has no panels.
