Dead "mole" dug up by my dog near Lynnhaven Postal Center.
 

Yesterday, my dog was doing his usual rounds around the bushes near the golf course which borders the Lynnhaven Postal Center. He started digging near where there have been mole hills just outside the golf course but on the Postal Center common area. Out popped a dead lole in his mouth which I quickly took away from him by turning a plastic bag inside out and using it as a kind of glove.

The "mole" was about 6 inches long, light brown in color and soft to the touch.

I took it away from him because I had heard from scuttlebutt that they poison such critters on the Villages' golf course??? There were not any wounds on the "mole" and it was only about an inch from the surface underneath a clump of grass when my dog pulled it out.

You might want to be careful when walking your pooches near postal centers if indeed such critters are poisoned.

Sure would like to know what they use to kill the things as I have had a few in the lawn here in Ohio and they are next to impossible to get rid of. They eat the grubs in the lawn so you treat the lawn for grubs but that is a hit or miss solution.

I had a mole problem. I also had a cat problem due to my wife bringing a kitten home when I was not keen on having one. When kitten matured she presented us with a dead mole on our back doorstep. I then discovered we were mole free. That cat and I became instant buddies. She kept us mole free for another 16 years.

Good reason to let your dog make his usual rounds in your own lawn rather than our postal center.

Is your dog available to visit and help get rid of the mole that has been leaving furrows in our neighborhood lawns?

We also had moles in Ohio. I have a female mini schnauzer that would dig and catch them all the time. She was great except Ohio dirt is real dirt not sand and she would be a muddy mess when it would rain. Her feet and face would have clumps of mud.We had an inside laundry tub that saw lots of use. I was told by a critter catcher I could hire her out, of course I didn't.
