lawyers and house inspectors
Is it the norm to have an attorney review at the house closing.
Does one have a house inspector review the home before the close and then again just befor the warranty period. |

Don't know if it's the norm, but we had an attorney review at closing and a house inspection before closing on the resale we purchased. |
We had our FSBO inspected before we bought and both parties were represented by McCinn & Burnsed (sp?)

if you are purchasing a new home you have a one year warranty as far as any other issues if you purchase title insurance i think you are covered, but don't hold me to it....gn

Attorney's to review closing paperwork is quite the norm. A Home Inspection, especially on resales, is normal. Just make sure you get an inspectior who represents you and reports to you - I would avoid an inspector recommended by a sales agent as the sales agent usually works for the seller and not the buyer. In addition, the home inspection industry is highly UNregulated so check out your inspectors credentials and reputation carefully. Having never purchased a brand new home with a warranty, I can't speak to the inspection issue just prior to warranty expiration.

We did the home inspection and feel it was worth the time. We did the title insurance and did not use a lawyer. Title company did the closing.
