Culver’s

This is one of my favorite places, but below is the comment I left on their online survey site today.

“It took OVER 20 minutes to receive our order! Our order was placed at 1:04:04. The couple with us placed thier order at 1:03:37. They received their food 10 minutes before us. I complained to the manager and she really didn’t seem to care. She said they worked the orders in the order received. If there is 30 seconds between orders and then 10 minutes between the orders being received, folks would be backed up out the doors! Very poor service, and an uncaring attitude by manager. Makes me question my decision to return. Steak & Shake is just down the street.”

They opened with a lot of hoopla, but I don't think they can compete with Steak and Shake.

My personal opinion and preference is if I can't be seated and served...I don't go

One of your favorite places and you are considering never going back over one experience? Seems a bit reactionary, but it's your money and you vote with it.

I suppose the upside is you weren't on a 30 minute lunch break and had to clock back into work.

But they don’t know that!

SFSkol 11-01-2018 03:16 PM

So, you were with another couple. So, two orders, coming into the kitchen. Was there something special/unique about the first order? Take the raw onion off/ replace with fried onions? Extra thick milkshake? An order that has to go to an additional preparation station? Two orders, asking for trouble. Can't divide $ on a single order?

I have abandoned my crusade to "save the pickle" because I would always receive my food last.

To base future patronage based upon this event appears silly.

So, how was the food?

Pls forgive my comment as a distraction from the subject of this thread. But thanks for the web reference re Guss’ Pickles. When taking visitors to the lower east side in NYC, Guss’ Pickles was always a hit. There were dozens of barrels everywhere with every kind and size of pickle, as well as, barrels of olives of every sort. It was a unique NYC experience and a real shame that’s it’s now gone. BTW, has anyone tried Grillo’s pickles? I believe Publix sells them in the refrigerated deli area.

We’ve been meaning to try Culver’s out of curiosity. Sorry to hear it too may suffer from Mid-Florida restaurant syndrome.

Always had great food and service there. All restaurants have their bad moments, I just don't find it worthy of bashing them over one longer than normal wait.

Bjeanj 11-01-2018 08:01 PM

Bad service has been going on at Culver’s for awhile.

No Tip? Do you blame the Server for slow service?

jerseyvillager 11-01-2018 08:48 PM

Tough getting around all the pickle barrels on the sidewalk at Guss.

Culver's is one of our favorite spots to catch a bite every now and then. We've gone enough to the one here to see an ebb and flow of service. One evening it seemed to take a long time for our order as well but then we found out it was Homecoming and many of the employees were at that. Given that---we could give them some slack. It's not a black-tie place for fine-dining, after all. The last time we stopped there (last weekend) we could tell that the snow-birds are back as it was markedly busier than a handful of weeks ago. The OP said they were with another couple. Did you all order at the same time...that can make a difference with delivery as well as what everyone ordered. To diss an establishment after one unfortunate experience seems a bit reactionary, especially since it was stated to be "our favorite place".

Been there a few times and never had a problem. Like them better than most fast food places.
