Swimming Pools

We are having a house built and would like to check into having a pool custom installed. I had seen some posts on recommendations but can't find it. Could anyone give me a good reference for some to look into? Is it much more reasonable to have the work subcontracted versus TV doing it? (obviously the middle man is taken out but is it worth the hassle)? Thanks for the help and the information. Also, does anyone know how long it takes to have one installed?

I'm not sure if I read your post accurately, but if you have TV build your pool as part of the house package, you will be adding a middleman. TV will likely have T&D Concrete build the pool, so you will be happy with the result. But I suspect you will pay more and have less input into the final product.

T&D is the best company we have ever dealt with. They built us a fabulous pool, spa and birdcage at a very fair price. They have built so many pools and are so efficient that I can't imagine you will have any "hassle" dealing with them directly. For a minimal amount of time spent you will see all of the possibilities, get just what you want, and save some money.

Thank you so much for the reply and you answered just what I was asking for. I will definately call them and I feel really good that you were pleased and felt they were fair in their price. Thanks again.

A Slight Twist on the Question

We are also considering a pool and have been advised that by having it done after the builder is finished that we could save a considerable amount of money.

My question is for those of you who have done this... How well do they deal with the issues of the holes in the stucco and concrete where they have removed the old screen? Will it have a "patchwork" repair that is easily noticed?

Also regarding the new concrete (and the bird cage) that is added to extend for the pool... Is it obvious? Can you tell it was all done after the fact, or does it look as good as having it all done at one time? Thanks! :D

It would be completely unacceptable for a reputable company to leave any indications that their project was an "add-on"

Depends on the location of your house also, If all the houses around yours are built out, and you wait to have your pool put in, then it limits the builder of the pool on his or hers access to the property and can affect the price.
If you have the pool installed when building the house you can have it done just the way you want, you are not limited. You would still have full controll.

T&D would be the place to call. Give them a call and tell them what you are looking at and they will help you out alot. Very easy to deal with. They have a store on cr-466 by Bob Evans. Check them out.

depends on the pool and how much access they got. I just talked the owner T&D and he said between 5-8 weeks depending on the pool for completion.

Someone mentioned that T&D Pools did a "spool Package" which included a birdcage lanai for 12-15K; is this "spool" concrete or a fiberglass item? Any info. would be appreciated...

My sales rep quoted me 40 to 45 thousand for a pool and birdcage from TV builders !! ---All depends on the size of the pool ....

There are two types of swimming pools that you can install on your property, Onground pools and inground pools. Onground pools are cheap and can be installed rather quickly. But they are an eye sore. Whereas inground pools are a bit more costly but they increase the value of your property.

You would need to check the ARC, the only pool your allowed to have would be inground, no above ground, or the type you by at walmart add water and the thing rises up.. we just had one of those removed from a house..

T&D has a "spool" in their showroom on 466 and it is fiberglass. Not sure of the size of that one but we did ask about the price for that and we were told in the area of $12 - $15K with the birdcage. That was around November 2008.

I agree, T&D did our pool and they did an outstanding job.
