No golf on Friday....

Just in case you might not have seen the crawler along the bottom of the screen on Channel 2, there will be no golf tomorrow on the executive or championship courses.
Driving ranges will be closed, too. All closed due to weather we got today...and probably similar weather tomorrow.

Everybody will have to find something else to do... ;)

First time ever...

I saw a retention that went over the banks... flooded the 9th hole on Virginia!

When Tropical Storm Fay went through in 2008, the water in the pond on the Bogart course was so high, the bridge over it was underwater. That was amazing to see, too.

Maybe tomorrow will be spent diverting water from Virginia to other locales in the community.

On the radio today it was announced that there would be no entertainment at the town squares tonight, but kayak races would be held ...lol

Batten down the hatches, more rain on the docket for tomorrow!

Ocala got 5 inches, Leesburg got 3+, so I figure we got something inbetween.

Tomorrow's forecast varies...depends upon what tv station or web weather report you follow. Some have rain starting late tonight or early tomorrow AM and continuing until mid afternoon. Others have rain starting later in the morning.

What watering system was that?

Indy-Guy 03-11-2010 10:19 PM

Sprinkler systems are on for good reason.

They run the sprinkler systems when we have a lot of rain for good reason. They are pumping the water out of the ponds. This is done to lower the pond levels that are high and with more rain on the way they are making more room for more rain to gather in the ponds.

TV weather man said that the "bull's eye" rain area between Ocala and TV had over 6 1/2" of rain today.

Rain, rain go away, come back...in a couple of months.

jebartle 03-12-2010 03:01 AM

Our spa gained 4 inches of rain Thursday, with only one inch to spare before it runs over, guess our golf group will have to "feed our face" instead...giggle.

jtdraig 03-12-2010 09:53 AM

We have a rain gauge that sits in the open and yesterday we "recorded" about eleven inches of rain. That can happen if particular intense cells linger....We were surprised yet not surprised given the intensity of the rainfall.

Emptied our rain gage around 4pm yesterday and it was just over 5", that is in Hadley. Already have another 2" in it and depending upon what weather you listen to sounds like 3" to 6" possible today.

Based on the water levels I suspect a number of courses will be closed for the next couple of days. Even if some are open be sure to check the VNN scroll or call before going for the next couple of days.
