Knee Osteoarthritis
 

Need a recommendation for a Practitioner/Group that administers knee injections of agent such as Hyalgan or other viscosupplement.

Hubs will need same as his knees are not yet in need of replacement and this is his current treatment regimen.

Do urgent care centers offer cortisone shots to relieve knee pain?

Thanx for any recommendations.

I recently had a course of five Supartz injections at Villages Health.

My wife received are steroid injection to deal with knee pain from arthritis. It's been months and she is still doing fine.

Glad she is doing well. The occasional cortisone shot must be occasional! Will keep unova on the list if that winds up our last resort. Thanx.

I also got a cortisone shot for a shoulder from Villages Health, but from one of specialists. You do not need to be a member of Villages health to use the Villages Health specialists. I went to an orthopedic surgeon, Stephanie Silberberg.

Although I can't recommend a place to get the injections referenced at or near the Villages, I can tell you that I had them up North. I don't want you to falsely get your hopes up, they are a short term solution at best. Doctors push them because they get kick-backs from the pharmaceutical companies that profit greatly from the shots. They may give short term relief to people that have mild osteoarthritis (still have a fair amount of healthy cartilage), but if you have bone on bone in the knee, they will do little to nothing to help. These injections are usually something that just buys a little time before the inevitable knee replacement that we are all desperately hoping to avoid. Here is wishing the OP the best of luck.

Thanx for that warning! We are aware of the temporary nature of these products - some seem to work better than others. Hubs is not bone-on-bone yet - doc predicts 2 yrs before replacement is needed. He's just hoping to enjoy the winter with a bit more comfort due to a bit less pain! :) Will be seeing a new surgeon upon our return home in the spring for a second opinion on that surgery prediction! lolol

Be careful with anything containing corticosteroid ,it can cause high pressure in the eyes. Glaucoma.

And you should see what it can do to one's sugar level if diabetic!!!
